BootcamperCindy, I am a wellness coach myself but my background is more in exercise instead of nutrition...do you think it is more important to "eat clean" or just follow a calorie count such as 1300 cals a day?

CindyWell that is a catch 20/2. The general rule is calories in calories out but you must eat clean to become lean! If you want to be lean instead of just skinny fat then you must eat the right calories. But eat clean to be really lean!

BootcamperHow do you maintain the motivation to exercise everyday?

CindyMotivation starts slow! I suggest making short goals. Example: just exercising 10 minutes a day! If you do that it won't be so overwhelming and then you will be motivated to do more!

BootcamperHey, Cindy... I was intrigued by Barry's Boot Camp because I'm interested in interval training... but... ummmm... can the exercises be done at a lower level of intensity for beginners who aren't in great shape, or is this intended for the "already buff"?

CindyI understand! Have you seen Cat in the dvd? She does the moderate level? Is that still too much? If that is too much you can start by walking or jogging each day to get ready! Barry says just do what you can and you will catch up!

BootcamperI keep reading about starvation mode... Is there a general safe amount of calories (ex;1600) to eat to lose weight and not go into starvation mode?

CindyGood question! Yes! You can find yourself in starvation mode quick! I suggest finding out your true metabolic rate! Google a gym that will have the test! It will be a sure way of finding out your exact caloric intake!

BootcamperCan I use the Fat Blaster upper body workout everyday along the upper body specialists, because I want to build my arms and chest up?

CindyHey! A guy in the chat room! What up Lenny! Ok, if you want to build up your upper body you have to increase your tension in the bands or weights! Do it every other day so you have one day off in between to build muscle!

BootcamperCindy I am a route driver and eat both breakfast and lunch on the road. I do well at healthy lunches but need better suggestions for breakfast. Any info will help.

CindyOk, my favorite breakfast is Oatmeal, protein powder and essential oil!

BootcamperHow can I break the sugar habit?????

CindyThat is the biggest question I get! You must completely stop eating sugar for entire week! I'm talking not even one drop! Then you must eat every three hours, small meals, protein, good fats and complex carbs! A gallon water a day!

BootcamperI'm trying to calculate how many cals I should eat a day and know of some good formulas...has anyone figured out a range of calories that the dvds burn? If you do one of the fatburner DVD's and a specialst one ....I'm unsure how much I am burning...

CindyOMG! Go to Barrysbootcamp.com you click on the fat burn tab and use that as a guide to see every workout calories burned! It's so cool! Hey! A question to the room! Are you guys using fat burn and do you like it?

BootcamperI've been told that low intensity exercise is the best way to loose fat. However, this workout is pretty intense aerobically. Which guidance is true?

CindyYou must do a combination of low intensity cardio and high intensity workouts to see max results! But the most important is interval training for max results!

BootcamperI travel a lot, and love to eat. Just like you mentioned earlier, starting slow with exercise, I try and incorporate lifestyle changes into my eating habits. I've watched my mom yoyo diet my whole life, so I avoid "diets"- but I think diet is the missing element in my fitness regiment. When traveling, I often avoid fast food restaurants and try to eat "real food" and I'm vegetarian. My problem is quantity. And eating 5-6 small meals a day is tough, when you like to sit down and eat a 'real meal." I'm trying to learn how to continue changing how I think about food. Any tips on how to re-think eating- especially in regards to large quantities? Thanks

CindyWow! That's a tough one! Yes! Eating small meals is the way to go! But when traveling you have to plan ahead! For example, packing almonds, apples, protein powder, pre-made protein shakes and call ahead to find healthy options in your hotel! Portion control is the key to your success!

BootcamperIn your breakfast, what kinds of essential oil are you referring too and in what format?

CindyThe most amazing Essential Oil is called Ultra-Omega oil! I have all my clients use it! Omega 3, 6, 9, it regulates blood sugar, hormones, boosts immune system and improves digestion!

BootcamperI have been trying to loose 15 lbs for such a long time. I am confused. Do I go on the zone, count calories....which food plan is best for loosing 15 lbs, becoming lean and healthy?

CindyWe all know diets don't work! You should follow the Barrys bootcamp diet plan and then make any exchanges you need to according to your likes and dislikes! I find when people hit a plateau it usually because they are stuck eating the same thing. I would cut out bread, protein bars, and artificial sweeteners all together!

BootcamperThe bottom of my feet hurt while doing some of the plyometric jumps during the lower body workouts. Is that normal & will it go away?

CindyIt is totally normal! I would stick with the lower intensity exercises and then jump back in when you feel better! You could also ice after the workout!

BootcamperDo you think people just get to a certain weight and that's it.. I have been trying to loose 15lbs. forever and I just don't seem to go any lower

CindyThere is a set weight for people but you can drop that weight! You have to go over and above to make a difference. I would check your diet! Keeping a food log will help you see what you are doing and what you need to change! You have to be consistently good to see results!

BootcamperIs it true if I don't enough in one day my body will start holding onto fat?

CindyHeck yes! I see that so much! You are starving your body and it is holding onto fat! You must eat every three hours to see max results!

BootcamperI am trying to understand, why is sugar so bad. If I am working out and doing the DVD plus 2 mission specialist 4-5 days, won't that just burn off any sugar. I like sugar in my coffee. I don't trust the equal etc.....as a replacement.

CindyYou can workout 5 hours a day but if you don't cut out sugar you will not see max results unless you are a genetic freak

BootcamperCindy, earlier you said, "I find when people hit a plateau it's usually because they are stuck eating the same thing. I would cut out bread, protein bars, and artificial sweeteners all together!"- would you say a vegetarian also needs to cut out bread to break out of a plateau? I enjoy Ezekiel bread (which is totally great for you and almost a complete protein in itself). I enjoy corn tortillas, whole wheat pasta & brown rice- do you think as a vegetarian, that it's a good idea to cut out these things? Doesn't leave much left - but maybe that's the point. :)

CindyYes! Figure out what the calories are that you need and spread them out throughout your day! Yes! Vegetarians need to cut out bread too! You should get your carb sources from brown rice, yams, corn tortillas etc!

BootcamperWould it be ridiculous to alternate every other day doing the 1000 - calorie workout on one and then both upper and lower body fat blaster workouts together on the other day?

CindyI would not over do it! Variety is the key to staying motivated! If you did the two workouts in a row I would do maybe just the abs workout the next day with cardio!

BootcamperYou mentioned using the bands at higher resistance for weight training. Is that enough though or do people need to complement the Barry's workouts by going to the gym and doing heavier weights too?

CindyI would add an additional band! To increase muscle! If not you could add dumbbells to increase muscle as well!

BootcamperI just had a baby 3 months ago. This is baby #4. I am almost down to my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm 127 now, but I have that little pooch that hangs over when I sit. How can I get rid of it? Is it true it never goes away? I saw the people on the Barry's video of mothers and including you, your stomachs are flat. Help I want my stomach flat.

CindyOh yes! I am a mother of 2 and let me tell you that sucks! It is totally harder for us moms to loose that last belly pooch! Whatever guys! Listen, you can do it! You have to be really strict with your diet and you will see the results I promise!

BootcamperWhat workout pattern (days per week & number of specialist) is recommended after the first 30-day workout program? I don't have much time in the morning to workout so fitting in 3 specialist a day is tough to do. I'm trying to loose 30 pounds of pregnancy weight (after 2 kids). You're a Mom so I know that you understand.

CindyI would do the fat blaster workouts and add the bootcamp 1000 when you can! That will maximize your results in a shorter amount of time. Listen, get your kids involved! Have them do the workouts with you! I love when my kids jump around with me. They think its so much fun and they think working out is fun!

BootcamperWhat is interval training?

CindyLenny, you are doing it with Barrys workouts! High intensity cardio exercises with muscle conditioning!

BootcamperBesides sugar is there anything else we should stay away from...like sodium?

CindyYes! Sodium, sugar, refined sugar, processed foods if possible, SODAS! Please don't drink sodas! Also, you must vary your foods just like your workouts.

BootcamperI assume when you say to be lean we need to cut out sugar , you also mean honey, agave, molasses- all that stuff, huh? Fruit, too?

CindyAll that stuff but not fruit all together. It's almost impossible to cut out sugar all together but just be the best you can be! Fruit has fiber and nutrients unlike all the other crap!

BootcamperAre there any good protein bars you recommend or should they be cut out completely?

CindyOMG! Please stay away from them all! They all suck! Your body does not process the protein from bars like real food and they are constipating! They bloat you and make you crave sugar! Yuck

BootcamperIs there the right combo of protein, carb and fat to loose weight?

CindyIt all varies depending on your body. I like Protein 50, carb 25, fat 25!

BootcamperWhat else is good for breakfast besides oatmeal?

CindyEgg whites and veggies is Barry's favorite but you could add an essential oil to that to make it complete! Protein shake?

BootcamperWhat about diet pop?

CindyDiet soda! Total Crap! It bloats you! It makes you feel hungry! It expands your stomach! It makes you retain water! It sucks!

BootcamperYour thoughts on cheese?

CindyDairy foods should be eating in the low fat version! Everything in moderation!

BootcamperIs there one protein shake that is better than the rest...and what about fat burners?

CindyI like Metrx shakes because they taste the best. I also like Jay Robb! Fat burners should be outlawed! I know so many people that now have heart issues! Don't do it!

BootcamperWhat supplement is good to take for soreness?

CindyAntiflamitory drugs like motrin or advil. You can soak in epsom salt baths and drink lots of water!

BootcamperWhat about drinking coffee? A lot of coffee? I love my coffee and drink it black.

CindyI suggest drinking one cup a day. If you need more switch to green tea! It's the best!

BootcamperWhat is bootcamp 1000?

BootcamperI heard fucothin which is seaweed helps burn belly fat, and does not affect you at all. Is that true?

CindyOMG, eat right, exercise, there are no quick fixes. BTW... do they have an 800 number??? LOL!

BootcamperWhat is good for energy?

CindyBarry loves sugar free red-bull but we differ on this subject! That energy gives your body a synthetic energy boost. Then your body has to recoop and needs more energy when you are down. It craves sugar for us sugar cravers and bloats you as well! Good luck! DONT DO IT?

BootcamperCindy, I started the program about 10 days ago and doing it 5 times a week for at least one hour. How long it will take to see result?

CindyIf you are following the eating plan perfectly and doing the workouts everyday, you should see results in a week!

BootcamperI can't eat like that. I don't want to give up a cup of coffee or a diet coke, life is too short. IF I can't get fit without that than count me out.

CindyNo! I didn't say you couldn't drink coffee! You can! I'm just saying be moderate. If you are hitting a plateau then you should look more closely at your diet! Believe me nobody is perfect and all we ask if for moderation! Not deprivation!

BootcamperWhat's your favorite lo-fat way to prepare veggies? They sure taste good w/ real butter. :) Do you have suggestions other than soy sauce?

CindyYes! Try to steam them and then use I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray or butter buds!

BootcamperIs it true not eating after 6 or 7 pm helps to lose weight?

CindyWell, that's tough! You need to eat all your calories before bed so if you get home and can't eat early then you must eat! It's a good rule to stop eating 3 hours before bed! Your body does not need those extra calories at night! It works!

BootcamperHow do you feel about low carb / high protein / high fiber pastas out now? Are they okay a couple nights a week?

CindyYes of course! Just eat them with protein and veggies! Don't eat more than a cup and you will be fine!

BootcamperI just started bootcamp about 2 weeks ago and just weighed myself for the first time. I was 2 1/2 pounds heavier! I was so bummed. Is that normal? I had been steadily losing weight prior to starting. What do you think is going on?

CindyOMG! That is totally normal! We are helping you add muscle to your body so you will increase your metabolism and lose weight for the long run! This is totally normal! As long as you are following the diet? There is no way you are gaining fat weight! Be patient and keep me posted! I've got a question for guys now! BootcamperIs there some fruit that is better for you than others?

CindyYes! Stay away from bananas, pineapple and juice! Try apples, grapefruits, all berries, and oranges! More fiber and less sugar!

BootcamperI am not following the diet -- I'm following a similar diet given to me by my endocrinologist. I feel like my clothes are looser, so hopefully I'll eventually get lighter! My quads are the hardest they've been in years and my butt is narrower :)

CindyThat's great! Clothes are always a better indicator then the weight on the scale when you are sculpting your body! It sounds like you are doing great!

BootcamperIs it true when you first start working your abs your stomach will stick out more?

CindyThat's unusual? I would look at your diet? Watch foods that bloat you. You need to eat every three hours and drink water to loose weight in your stomach.

BootcamperMy co-worker told me today that I look like I've been working out and I see it myself too ,maybe I am not losing yet but can feel that something is happening thanks for your hard work, you and Barry's . I love you guys

CindyThat is so amazing! Please feed off that! When I lost 40 pounds that constant feedback from people was what kept me motivated! Keep going! You will be so happy!

BootcamperWhat are the best ways after 40 to lose weight and firm up?

CindyOh yes! As we get older it gets harder! Ok, here is the gig! You must drink an essential oil! That will help to regulate your hormones! Drink 90 ounces water a day! Cut back on alcohol! Workout 6 days a week! Listen, I know it sucks but it just gets harder! You can do it!

BootcamperI have seen changes in my waist, thighs, and behind. I started back in mid June and within one month, I had lost about 4 inches in my waist. And inches in my thighs. I look leaner (people have told me that too. I have not got on the scales. I will once I see more in my clothes. I just need to rid myself of my sugar habit. :)

CindyGood! Do not get on that scale! It is the enemy! I take it away from my clients! You are doing the right thing. When lose weight the right way you will put on muscle and weight. You will lose in the long run. Be consistent and time will show you results!

BootcamperDo you still workout 6 days a week? You said you lost 40 pounds. We'd love to see your before pictures to help motivate us Moms :

CindyYes I do! Honestly! When I am getting ready for a video or photo shoot I kick my own ass! It's not easy to lose weight and always stay in shape believe me! If I even have 20 minutes extra in a day I'll do lunges, sit-ups, pushups etc. I never sit down. I am always moving and playing with my kids! I will try to find a fat photo for you! I mean pudgy!

BootcamperHi Cindy. I am new to Barry's Bootcamp and I am on day 25. I started the Bootcamp Workout on September 1, 2008 and finally I have lost 8 pounds in four weeks. I am so glad I ran across the TV commercial. When I reach day 30 do I start over on day 1 again with just one of the Fat Blaster Workouts or do I continue with the Fat Blaster and all three Mission Specialist workouts? Please advise?

CindyI would add mission specialist to the fat blasters according to your goals! The more you move the faster your results! We only have a few more minutes and they are going to pull the plug! Send your last questions now!

BootcamperWhen you lost 40 pounds, did you find it was that last 5-10 that were the hardest to lose? If so, what did you do to succeed?

CindyYes, for sure! I was so strict! I told myself that I was going to give myself 3 months with no sugar, soda etc! After the first 2 months it just got easy because being motivated came from within! I loved the way I felt and knew I would never go back!

BootcamperIs the bootcamp 1000 not intended for regular use? If it is ok to use it regularly, how often can / should I use it?

CindyYou should mix it in with your normal workouts. I would not do it everyday but its great for a huge kick in the butt and burning calories.
